Preparatory Work:
Coaching Self-Evaluation, Professional Development Plan, Goal Setting Review

You’ll review your status quo and pinpoint areas for development, laying the foundation for your first coaching call.

Coaching Call 1

We’ll run through your course pre-work, discuss your goals for completing the course and troubleshoot any potential challenges or sticking points that could derail your progress.

Module 1: Being a Pro

We kick things off by defining and setting your goals. Then we’ll move on to learning about the ‘softer’ skills needed to be a leader, role model, and focal point of your fitness community. We’ll cover self-accountability, how to carry out a life audit, and defining your professional identity and brand.

Module 2: Programming Principles

We’ll dive into the principles of becoming a master programme designer. Focusing on your business’s demographic, you’ll learn how to create a programme to drive client satisfaction, retention and profitability. We’ll work through the five pillars, which will become your masterplan, ensuring consistent quality for your whole operation.

Coaching Call 2

This second one-to-one is an opportunity to discuss your learnings so far and help with any issues that have cropped up. We’ll also review the two programmes you’ve designed, plan for the creation of a coaching system, and troubleshoot specific problems you’re experiencing in your role as a coach.

Module 7: Special Populations

An advanced coach knows how to work with, and get the best from, every member they train. Each client has different needs, and you must be an expert in any situation, even if it means accessing your support network or outside professional help. We’ll take you through a range of possible scenarios to widen your knowledge.

Module 8: The Evaluation Process

Module 9: Movement Refinements and Fixes

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s my study time?

This is a six-week intensive course with a total study time of around 60 hours – roughly ten hours a week. It includes three 45-minute one-to-one coaching calls with an experienced member of the IFBA Education Team. 

When does the course start? 

You can start at any time. Once we’ve processed your payment, you’ll receive an email with login details, your Digital Workbook, and a prompt to book your first coaching call.

Can I study online?

Yes. Which means you can study anytime, anywhere.

What makes this course different?

This is more than a technical coaching course. You’ll get wraparound support to grow as a fitness leader, developing your professional potential and preparing you to lead your team and business to success. And this is no passive learning experience; you’ll receive individual mentoring and support from expert coaches and business leaders who have proven expertise in this role.

How much does the course cost?

The Advanced Coaching Course costs £799.

How will I be assessed?

The course is formally assessed through ten online exams, one for each module. This sits alongside an extensive Digital Workbook, which will lead you through a series of exercises and culminate with a coaching development plan you’ll discuss with your course mentor. You’ll also be required to submit a 10-hour Self Evaluation Coaching Log to put the theory into practice.

Do I need previous experience?

The Advanced course is aimed at experienced PTs and fitness professionals in leadership roles – or who aspire to be. If you aren’t sure if you’re ready for the course, just drop us an email at HQ@theifba.com and we can chat through your options.

What qualification will I receive?

Once you’ve successfully completed the course, you’ll receive a digital IFBA Coaching Course Award certificate to print and display. You’ll also receive a digital badge to add to your website and social channels, allowing you to share your IFBA certification with members, prospects, and fellow professionals. 

Do you have to complete the Foundations in Coaching Practice course before attempting this one?

We strongly advise you to do the Foundations in Coaching Practice course first, but it’s not a prerequisite. And if you want to achieve the title of IFBA Certified Coach, you must complete both courses.
